|Abstrakt EN:||The paper describes a fast areal measurement of paint thickness using pulse thermography. AISI 304 samples sprayed with a black paint were excited by a flash lamp using one short pulse (several ms) and the temperature response was recorded by an IR camera. The data was processed using a fast Fourier transform to obtain phase angles. The differences in the phases corresponded to the differences in paint thickness. A dependency was found in the form of a calibration curve between phase values and thickness. The thickness estimated over this calibration curve differed maximally by 10 % from the measured thickness using a standard thickness meter for the thickness range 40-80 ?m. Advantages, disadvantages and limitations of the presented technique are discussed in the paper.|
