MA is a division of the NTC which focuses on interdisciplinary research and education. In the domain of research, it focuses on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary transfer and integration of knowledge among engineering and non-engineering studies (including humanities), on support of transfer of technology, and on interdisciplinary analyses of technology penetration into non-technical domains and into common life of both the society and the individual. The domain of interdisciplinary education affects especially science researchers and academic staff as well as university and secondary-school students. For over a decade, MA (formerly under the name of Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies) has been the leading organiser of interdisciplinary activities at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The department associates and invites a major number of leading Czech scientists and thinkers.
